Happy Thanksgiving!!

Friday, September 18, 2009

Oh, my, I never did write about our wonderful trip to Colorado! We spent Fri night the 4th at Albert & Katies. Katie & I didn't get to go for 4 wheeler rides that evening. It took awhile to fiqure out  how we're going to pack the van & we packed as much as we could that evening yet. Fortunately they had a car top carrier that we ended out using. The point was we needed space for Albert's motorized scooter & it needed to be accessible in route. We left soon after 4 AM, had a safe trip out to Cheraw & arrived at Mikie {John} & Brenda's around 4. Which their time was 3PM. But they were no where around & after making sure it was their house, { the doors were unlocked} we unloaded our stuff. When they arrived from their sightseeing excursions with friends, we welcomed them home!

We enjoyed attending church with them & staying for their monthly fellowship meal. It was a wonderful way to get to meet & mingle with the people that call John their pastor! Oh, by the way, it was also a blessing to get to hear him preach!

Mon we went to Las Animas & enjoyed a western, small town, kids rodeo! The fun part was watching my 85 year old Mom's expressions! We are pretty bad kids taking Mom to her first ever rodeo but it was great! Just good, clean enviroment & watching the kids handle their horses & the animals was fun!  We ended out staying longer then we had planned but we all had fun! One of the older couples from Mikies church was there & they had grandchildren in the rodeo as well as some other families that Mikies knew. We enjoyed our packed lunch at John Martin Reservoir park.

Tue Mikies took us for a sight seeing ride on what they called The Loop. We enjoyed the changing scenery of the southeastern part of CO. By Tue evening they had convinced us we should stay an extra day. So Wed we drove two hours west & went to Canon City. We had a wonderful visit with Gaylord & Kay Knepp who so graciously held off their plans for several hours so we could see them.  They have a very nice place in the city & they were quick to say that it all came about because of the Lord's doing!  We enjoyed the sights of the Rockies on our travel this day. We also stopped in at both of New Horizens thrift stores in Canon City & Pueblo. We also made a stop at Skyline Church & Mel got to visit with Ken Miller.

Thur morning we left early, around 5 & headed back to Iowa, arriving at Alberts around 4:30. Katie & I got to go on 4 wheeler rides while Mel took off the carrier & finished unloading. I love watching my sister, who is 4 years older then me, just having so much fun on their 4 wheelers! But their farm is a blast to ride on too with all their field lanes & trails in the woods etc. We didn't stay out as long as would've been fun, I didn't want to make my husband wait too long for me to get back to the house. But when we got back, Albert & Mel had gone off too on their other 4 wheelers! We found them back in the soy bean field. But we had six hours home yet so we didn't stay too long. It was 11:30 when Mel & I got back home!

We had a great trip, great time with family & really enjoyed the privilege of having Mom & Alberts going with us. Mom stayed at Alberts so after her being here a month it was kinda different this week not having her here. Oh, by the way, I have since found out that Mom did another new thing. Not only did Katie get her on a 4 wheeler, she actually drove one!!!!!! Isn't she amazing! You're never too old to learn something new! I love my Mom, she's such a sport! Guess she has to be when she's at the mercy of her kids!!

Later ya all....God is good .....all the time

Wow! It's been a long time! How can the month of Aug be over already? My Mom has been here for a month now. She lives in VA & is 85 years old. It was so good to have here. Later today we plan to head for Leon Iowa where my sister lives. Early tomorrow morning, Albert & Katie, Mom, Mel & I plan to head for Cheraw, CO to visit my brother & wife John & Brenda! We are excited to be able to make this trip with Mom! So I need to get packed & ready to go instead of being on here!

Have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!

God is good...all the time!

God is so awesome! There are those times when you have such a sense of excitement as you see what God has been quietly orchestrating behind the scenes! It renews the mind, it strenghens the faith, & gives you a sense of excitment at the power of God & it also gives a deeper committment to prayer. Thank You Heavenly Father....

God is good...all the time!!

Happy Independence Day Weekend to ya all out there!!

We are glad to have the sun shining today & the temp more like it should be! Last week we had sweltering temps in the 90's & the air conditioner on all week. Then it cooled down & was cloudy & quite chilly with temps barely hitting 60 till yesterday. Late yesterday afternoon the sun decided to show itself again & the warmth it brought sure felt good! I know, I know, we humans sure are hard to please! Frankly the cooler temps felt good to me versus the heat but it's summertime & it's supposed to at least feel warm when you're outside! The grass needed mowing badly but I waited till yesterday because I really didn't  feel like getting chilled out on the mower!

Our week with Terry & Kris went by so fast. It always does! Mel was home every night but one & he had one long afternoon here which was nice. We got to see more of Virgil & Calgray & Vic & Anna as they were here for different meals etc. One thing we didn't do was build a campfire in the evening & sit outside roasting marshmellows & eating smores. It was so very warm & they had different places to go several evenings so it just didn't happen. Sat morning TJ commented that we hadn't built a fire all week & he was kinda sad. So Grandpa went out & started the fire & they roasted some marshmellows & he was happy! They left Sat after lunch & spent the night in IN with friends. So we had our traditional Sat night pizza for lunch instead.

This evening we anticipating the church family to be here for our monthly family night. The main game will probably be volleyball with other outside games as ladder golf & bean bag toss etc. Hopefully the fire pit will be put to use as well.

July looks like a busy month. Bible School will be next week. The 17th - 19th, weekend meetings with Walter Beachy & then BMA convention. Different families also have places to go, weddings, reunions, camping trips etc. So maybe later we may all be in church together again.

God bless you wherever the paths He takes you this summer.

Ok, the color on here is not what I wanted & now I can't change it! But I started out thinking, red, white, & blue so there you have it!
